In Kevin Carters Pulitzer Prize winning photograph, a starving, young black child is stalked by a vulture on the African savannah. The child has fallen to the ground with his legs still touching soil as well as his head. His ribs are clearly visible and he looks to be near death. The vulture can be seen waiting on the ground close by the boy.
This picture contains a very deep meaning in it. it shows
the hardships that many people are going through in Africa. It shows that the
world is an unforgiving place and that not everyone will survive. What's more
is that Kevin Carter, the photographer of this picture committed suicide after
photographing scene just like this one for many years. It just shows that
seeing this kind of life every day can take its toll.
